FOOD: The daily food of every Goan no matter which religion
one follows is rice, fish and curry. Rice varies from polished, unpolished and parboiled to the richly flavoured basmati. The base of the curry is grated coconut and coconut milk. The addition of a fish give ‘ummon or koddi'. The Portuguese too had a strong influence on
Goan cuisine and some of the popular dishes like sorpotel and deserts like
bebinca were introduced in Goa by the Portuguese.

TOWNS
PANJIM: A small and a charming city on the banks of the river Mandovi, is the capital of Goa and headquarters of north Goa district.
The annual film festival takes place here as this is the
permanent venue for the same.
MARGAO: Is the headquarters of south Goa district. In the hinterland of the southern Goa in Salcette taluka is a thriving commercial metropolis is in linked by rail to rest India.
VASCO: A modern and well laid city to the Mormugao harbour, this city has beautiful and extensive avenues. It is situated on the banks of the river Zuari.
There are other towns as well like Mapusa, Ponda, etc.
BEACHES
 CALANGUTE: It is
one of the most popular holiday spots in Goa and lies in the north.
COLVA: This beach is the pride of Salcette and the only rival to Calangute in its scenic splendour. Here, sand, sea and the sky blend in enchanting harmony. It is about 6 km from Margao town.
MIRAMAR: A lovely golden beach of soft girdled with palms facing the sea. It is the nearest beach to Panjim.
PALOLEM: Just west of Canacona, this is one of the most enchanting beaches in Goa relativity deserted.
