A Tour of Ancient Heritage

North India is a treasure trove of all heritage monuments in various infrastructural patterns. Its home to large number of mosques & temples, wildlife and an amalgamation of history, culture and traditions.

It also boasts of beautifully carved & chiselled temple of love of Shah Jahan & Mumtaz Mahal (Taj Mahal); the oldest living city in the world (Varanasi), The Great Indian Thar deserts in Rajasthan and the tallest iron pillar in Delhi (Qutub Minar)

Day by Day Itinerary

DAY 1 - ARRIVE DELHI (By Flight)

  • ****   Arrive Delhi – “The Lutyens’ City and also One of the Greenest Capitals in the World” and Transfer to the hotel
  • Afternoon see Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial at Rajghat, Jama Mosque, Chandni Chowk (silver bazaar). We shall also provide a cycle rickshaw ride. Depending upon what time we are able to start the tour, may also be able to see quickly parts of New Delhi including the President house, India Gate and Drive through the diplomatic area. Should the tour start early enough, may see one of the monuments like Qutab Minar OR Humayun’s Tomb
  • This evening, you are invited for a welcome dinner at a nice restaurant called Chor Bizarre.
  • Overnight at the hotel (booked on own)

DAY 2 - DELHI – AGRA (203 km / 4 & half hrs)

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Transfer by road to Agra – “The City of Taj – one of the 7 new wonders in the world”
  • Late afternoon visit the Red Fort, see the room where the builder of Taj Mahal Shahjahan was imprisoned by his own son and used to peep at his memorial of love from here in his last days! Also see either Baby Taj or Akbar’s tomb at Sikandara (if interested & if time permits). See Taj Mahal at Sunset (or tomorrow at sunrise)
  • Evening see cultural programme Mohabbat The Taj
  • Overnight at the hotel

DAY 3 - AGRA – JAIPUR via FATEHPUR SIKRI (245 km / 5-6 hrs or more with visits)

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Transfer by road to Jaipur – “The Pink City”, en route visit Fatehpur Sikri, also a famous World Heritage monuments complex, about 40 km in Jaipur direction
  • If interested, also visit Chand Baori stepwells at Abhaneri, about 93 km before Jaipur, famous for its 13 storey / 64 feet underground well
  • Overnight at the hotel

DAY 4 - JAIPUR & AMBER VISIT (By Cycling)

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • 0800   Visit the Amber Fort with an ascent by the elephant back
  • Later visit the famous Observatory, City Palace, museum & Wind Palace (Hawa Mahal, has numerous windows, doors with fine carvings and fascinating coloured glass panels).
  • Some time free for shopping. Jaipur offers colourful traditional tie & dye clothes, jewellery, etc
  • Overnight at the hotel

DAY 5 - JAIPUR – KHEJARLA (285 km / 6 hrs)

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Transfer by road to Khejarla, a nice village famous for its fort hotel, situated 85 east of Jodhpur
  • Eve.    See the sunset from the 11th century temple
  • Dinner & Overnight at the Farm House

DAY 6 - KHEJARLA

  • Breakfast at the farm house
  • Morning do an exciting jeep safari and explore amazing variety of wildlife (black buck, nilgai & other type of deers; peacocks, variety of birds, monitor lizard, etc)
  • Recommend lunch at the fort (only veg, pay directly), you could even use their swimming pool and ayurveda facility
  • Evening visit the village by walking, see the local shops selling shoes made locally from camel leather, bangles, etc. Evening walk to the historical 11th century temple and enjoy sunset from there while sipping a cup of tea. From here, you are brought to the farm house on a camel cart. You have a memorable evening ahead with home cooked snacks & dinner accompanied by Indian wine, etc & local musicians entertaining you!

DAY 7 - KHEJARLA – JODHPUR (85 km / 2 Hrs – By Cycling)

  • Breakfast at the farm house
  • 0800   Pedal to Jodhpur – “The Blue City of India”, and see the majestic Mehrangarh Fort & Jaswant Thada. Quickly go through the local market  leading to the clock tower
  • Overnight at the hotel

DAY 8 - JODHPUR – VARANASI (By Flight)

  • Early Breakfast at the farm house
  • 0800   Transfer by road to Jodhpur – “The Blue City of India”, and see the majestic Mehrangarh Fort & Jaswant Thada. Quickly go through the local market leading to the clock tower. Thence Transfer to the airport
  • 1420   Departure by Jet Airways Flight ** – 2556
  • 1555   Arrive Delhi and collect your luggage. From here we transfer you to domestic airport
  • 1905   Departure by flight ** – 2538
  • 2045   Arrive Varanasi – “The Oldest Living City in the world” and Transfer to the Hotel
  • Overnight at the hotel

DAY 9 - VARANASI

  • Get up early morning to go for a boat trip during sunrise at the Ganges. You may also witness the reality of life – “death” – the dead bodies being burnt on pyre at Assi or Dashashwamedh Ghat (from a distance)
  • Way back, visit a Hindu temple (Vishwanath Mandir or Hanuman temple) and the Banaras Hindu University – the biggest residential university in Asia. Late Breakfast at the hotel
  • Late afternoon take a walk at the Ganges and the narrow lanes and by-lanes of town, for which the place is so famous. And eventually reach at the Ganges bank to see the Aarti & prayers (again quiet a divine experience)
  • Overnight at the hotel

DAY 10 - VARANASI – DELHI (by flight)

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • First half visit Sarnath, a very famous Buddhist destination and then see a local village a few km, where many people still live in mud houses
  • Later Transfer to the airport
  • 1650   Departure by flight ** – 405
  • 1825   Arrive Delhi and Transfer to the hotel
  • Overnight at the hotel (booked on own)

DAY 11 - DELHI

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Full day is free to relax
  • Later Transfer to the airport
