Day by Day Itinerary

DAY 1 - BANGKOK – MUMBAI – GOA

  • Departure from Bangkok
  • Arrive Mumbai and take an Airports Authority courtesy coach to the domestic airport (contact Jet Airways, they would transfer you from one to the other)
  • Departure by flight
  • Arrive Goa and Transfer to the hotel, you would be met by our representative at the airport who escorts you to the hotel and hands over the documents.
  • Evening enjoy the unparalleled sunset at the Arabian sea and reminisce your last visit to Goa a year ago!
  • Overnight at the hotel

DAY 2 - GOA – CHENNAI & Visit of town

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Transfer to the airport
  • Departure by flight
  • Arrive Chennai and Transfer to the hotel
  • Today visit the St Thome Church, Kapaleeshwar temple, drive past the Marina beach and the Fort Museum (closed on Fridays).
    OPTIONAL: Should you be interested, there is a famous snake garden in town.
  • Evening dinner at Taj Connemara, along side enjoy the Indian classical dance Bharatnatyam.
  • Overnight at the hotel

DAY 3 - CHENNAI – KANCHIPURAM – MAHABALIPURAM (130 km / 3-4 hrs with visit)

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Transfer by road to Kancheepuram (60 km / One hour) – a treasure trove of Hindu temples and art from the Pallava, Chola and Pandiyan dynasties, visit its two most famous temples (Devarajaswami temple, Kamakshi Amman Temple, Kailasanatha Temple & Sri Ekambaranathar Temple). This place is also famous for its silk Kanjheevaram saris
  • Then Transfer by road to Mahabalipuram. En route, there is a famous crocodile bank, biggest in Asia, should you be keen to see that.
  • Overnight at the hotel

DAY 4 - MAHABALIPURAM VISIT – PONDICHERRY (102 km / 2 hrs)

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • AM      Visit the famous shore temple, bas relief, Krishna’s butterball, Arjuna’s Penance, etc
  • PM      Later Transfer to Pondicherry. Late afternoon visit the Auroville Ashram and walk past French style buildings. Evening take a walk through the quaint town.
  • Overnight at the hotel

DAY 5 - PONDICHERRY – VILLUPARAM (70 km / 90 min) – TRAIN TO MADURAI

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Morning free to explore the lovely town on own
  • In time Transfer to the railway station (some patches of road not so good)
  • Departure by Vaigai Express 2635 (AC Chair Car Coach: C2 – 41, 42)
  • Arrive Madurai and Transfer to the hotel
  • Overnight at the hotel

DAY 6 - MADURAI VISIT

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Today visit the Minakshi temple with its thousand pillars, its museum and the Tirumalai Naick Palace. Evening free to explore the city on own (the towers of temple may be covered with leaves due to repairing going on)
  • Evening see the Aarti ceremony at the temple
  • Overnight at the hotel

DAY 7 - MADURAI – PERIYAR (THEKKADY) (140 km / 4 hrs)

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Transfer by road to Periyar. The moment you are nearing Periyar, you would observe a sudden change in the landscape – it gets much greener the moment you ascent certain height
  • Afternoon take a boat ride on the lake Periyar to see wild elephants, wild boars, bison, deer, otters and a variety of birds. Rest of the time is free to enjoy nature, buy spices and stroll through the small bazaar
  • Evening Kathakali dance drama (walking distance from the hotel)
  • Overnight at the hotel

DAY 8 - PERIYAR – MUNNAR (125 km / 3 hrs)

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Morning avail of the ayurvedic massage in the hotel or nearby (pay direct)
  • Transfer by road to Munnar – you would come across several rubber and tea plantation already. The place is well known for its manicured soothing green tea gardens and cooler climes. The Eravikulam wildlife sanctuary is famous for the Nilgiri Tahr, an endangered and protected species of goat but it may be closed due to the breeding season
  • Today visit the Tata Tea Museum, its tea garden and waterfalls, etc.
  • Overnight at the hotel

DAY 9 - MUNNAR – ALLEPPEY BACKWATERS (185 km / 5-6 hrs) - HOUSEBOAT

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Transfer by road to Alleppey – “Gateway to the Backwaters”
  • 1300   Board the houseboat from a jetty with Lunch on board. Then cruise along the serene backwaters of Vembanad lake. Knock at your creative faculties and wake up the poet or painter in you! Evening enjoy the beautiful sunset and then anchor at some convenient location for the night
  • Dinner and overnight at the houseboat (Non Air Conditioned, for 2 people)

DAY 10 - BACKWATERS

  • Breakfast at the houseboat
  • Today full day cruise through the backwaters and parts of Vembanad lake, it is going to be a very relaxing day
  • Lunch, Dinner and overnight at the houseboat (Non Air Conditioned, for 2)

DAY 11 - BACKWATERS (HOUSEBOAT) – KUMARAKOM – COCHIN (65 km / 90 min)

  • Breakfast at the houseboat
  • Get down at the Kumarakom jetty (at Vembanad lake) and Transfer by road to Cochin (Kochi)
  • PM      Visit the important places including Fort Cochin, Dutch Palace (Friday closed), Jewish Synagogue (Fri & Sat closed), St. Francis Church and finish off at the Chinese Fishing nets at the backdrop of sunset
  • Overnight at the hotel

DAY 12 - COCHIN – GOA

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Transfer to the airport
